ABOUT USThe Association for Northwest Advancement (ANA) is an organization of area businesses. Our primary objective is to promote Milwaukee's Northwest side as a quality area for business development. Co-operating with area residential organizations to continue to keep the area a good place to live, work and play. Originally formed as the Appleton Avenue Advancement Association in 1965, it evolved into ANA in 1996 to represent a broader focus in business and community concerns. As one of the city's oldest business associations, ANA has effectively addressed a variety of issues affecting the area over the years. Encompassing an area from 68th Street West, North to city limits and South to Burleigh Street, the ANA now represents a diverse cross section of community businesses. ANA sponsors activities directed toward involving businesses and residents to enhance opportunities for communication and information exchange. Our community activities have included children's programs, charitable fund raising events and the Appleton Avenue Beautification Project which is a visual symbol of proactive business co-operation. Neglected by the city, county and state which only provided two mowings and one litter pick-up per year our intervention to maintain the avenue's appearance has benefited not only the business community but the community at large. In addition, ANA sponsors social functions, including an annual banquet, golf outings, Brewers baseball outings and annual picnic to kick off the summer. From its beginning, ANA has had effective communications with local and state government officials representing our area. Many of these officials are honorary and active members of our organization. ANA itself is governed by four executive officers and a board of directors elected from our membership. To these people, past and present, who voluntarily give their time and efforts, ANA expresses its deepest gratitude. | ||
